Two Lights for Tomorrow

April 18

“Listen, my children, and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five:
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote these words around 1860 describing the night of Paul Revere’s ride. Paul Revere was dispatched from Lexington to Boston to find how the British were coming. You will recall that one lantern placed in the bell tower of Boston’s Christ Church (also known as the Old North Church) meant they were coming by land, and two meant by sea.
In honor of America250, the Concordia DAR is asking everyone to place two lanterns (or other lights) in their windows or on their porches the night of Friday, April 18th.
